Hi all,
At our meeting this past Sun, we met with Carmelo and found out how he had laminated the previous project to the wall (both sides of paper coated with matte medium so waterproof; then glued to wall - b/c paper already water-proofed, no buckling, so applied smoothly).
I was thinking about our digital file output and mounting methods. It seems to be there might be some easy solutions in the sign printing industry - printing banners, signs mounted on lightweight but stiff materials, laminated to be weather resistant, etc. Here's a website i was looking at: http://www.ddprinting.com/finishing.html
We also put some of the sample sky and bubbles up with sticky tack. I took photos of how it looked installed, and will post that soon.
I also brought in some new bubble samples with the sketch done in white lines, rather than black. We had discussion about that, but haven't yet finished exploring whether we want the sketches to be in black, white, both (or some other colour). It should be possible to make sketches bolder relatively easy in photoshop, or we could choose to redraw images more boldly, if we find they are not showing up well enough (more likely if using white lines than black).
I will print out the rest of the sky for us to use in experimenting with bubble size and layout at the next meeting. We agreed to meet again at the hospital on a Sunday, as the room is closed at that time, giving us the space to spread out and try out sky/bubble pieces, and the context in which to see if it is working.
Annie, let us know what your schedule is going to be like in terms of arranging our next sun meeting in Feb/March. (I'll be away the weekend of Mar 4).
Also, I've just started a blog for this project: http://pmhmural.blogspot.com/ - it should give us a better way for all of us to post/comment. I'll add our meeting notes and photos to the blog over the next little while.
Thanks everyone!
Julie

Julie! You have outdone yourself. Now you are working on our blog! It's too much. I just decided I'm taking you out for dinner. You are working too hard and deserve a break. And I love doing out for dinner!
